Engineers Wanted: Cabling, Access Control & CCTV Installers in London

Cabling Gods is growing. We want hands-on engineers who take pride in neat, tested, labelled work, turn up when they say they will, and can deal with a site manager like a professional.

We install and maintain structured cabling, fibre, access control, PoE CCTV, Starlink and comms rooms for commercial, construction and education sites. Our engineers work to RAMS, under SSSTS-level site safety supervision, and every job finishes with tested, labelled work and clean handover paperwork. If that is how you already work, we would like to hear from you.

Roles we recruit for

  • Data cabling engineers: CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6A installation, containment, patch panels, termination and testing
  • Fibre optic engineers: OS2 and OM4 installation, fusion splicing, termination and OTDR testing
  • Access control and CCTV engineers: readers, locks, controllers, PoE cameras and recorders
  • Engineer's assistants: supporting install teams on site, with the right ECS or CSCS card and a willingness to learn
  • Something else in this field? Tell us what you do and send your details

What we require

  • Real working knowledge of your trade, with hands-on site experience in cabling, fibre, access control, CCTV or related low-voltage work (assistant roles excepted)
  • Good spoken and written English, for reading drawings and RAMS, site briefings, job sheets and client conversations
  • A valid ECS or CSCS card relevant to your role, with the health and safety assessment passed
  • The right to work in the UK. We check this before anyone starts
  • Your own PPE and the hand and power tools for your trade
  • Reliable, punctual and presentable, and happy to work to RAMS and site rules
  • Able to travel to sites across London and occasionally elsewhere in England, as far north as Manchester
  • Willing to complete background checks, including DBS checks for sites that require them

Desirable

  • PASMA and/or IPAF certification for work at height
  • SSSTS or SMSTS site safety training, and a current first aid certificate
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Manufacturer training on Lenel, Paxton, Came BPT, Hikvision or Excel products
  • Experience with copper certification testers, fusion splicers and OTDRs
  • 18th Edition (BS 7671) for engineers working on mains-connected equipment
  • Starlink installation experience

What you can expect from us

  • Varied work across commercial, construction and education sites
  • Proper RAMS, site briefings and clear job sheets before you start
  • Quality standards that are worth being proud of: every cable labelled and tested, every job documented
  • Pay and terms discussed at interview, depending on the role and your experience

Applicant FAQs

Do I need an ECS or CSCS card?

Yes. You need a valid, in-date ECS or CSCS card that matches your role, with the health and safety assessment passed. If your card has expired or you are part-way through renewing it, tell us when you apply.

How good does my English need to be?

Good, clear spoken and written English is essential. You will read drawings and RAMS, follow site briefings, talk to site managers and clients, and complete job sheets and handover paperwork.

Do I need previous experience?

For engineer roles, yes. We look for hands-on, demonstrable experience in cabling, fibre, access control, CCTV or similar low-voltage work. Engineer's assistant roles are open to people with the right card who are keen to learn the trade.

Where would I be working?

Our base is London, and most sites are in and around the capital. Some jobs are elsewhere in England, as far north as Manchester, so you need to be able to travel.

Do I need to have my own tools and PPE?

Yes. You supply your own PPE (hard hat, hi-vis, safety boots, gloves and eye protection) and the hand and power tools for your trade.

What happens to the information I send?

We use it only to assess your application and contact you. Please do not send copies of ID documents until we ask for them. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
