Servicing & Maintenance for Security, CCTV and Cabling Systems in London & England

Planned servicing and ongoing maintenance for the systems we install and the ones we didn't: access control, CCTV, structured cabling, fibre, Starlink, AV and comms rooms. Scheduled visits catch faults before they become outages, and a service report follows every visit.

Cabling Gods services and maintains access control, CCTV, structured cabling, fibre optic, Starlink, audio visual and comms room systems across London and England, as far north as Manchester. We look after systems we installed and systems installed by others. Either way we start with a survey, so you know the condition of what you have before you commit to a plan.

Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) means visiting on a fixed schedule, monthly, quarterly, six-monthly or annually depending on the system and how critical it is, to inspect, test, clean, adjust and report. Problems found are logged and quoted rather than left to turn into an outage.

When something does fail, urgent faults in London go through our Priority Callout: a guaranteed 4-hour response, bookable and payable online. Planned servicing is priced on enquiry after a survey, so you only pay for the systems and visit frequency you actually need.

What a service visit covers

Access control (Lenel, Paxton, Came BPT and others)

  • Test every reader, keypad and credential read; check fixings and clean units
  • Check electric locks and mag locks for correct operation and holding, and adjust strike plates and armatures
  • Test push-to-exit buttons, request-to-exit sensors, door contacts and break-glass units
  • Check door closers for correct latching and closing speed
  • Inspect controllers, power supplies and standby batteries, including battery changeover
  • Check network communications to controllers and software, and review event logs for repeat faults
  • Test door release on a fire-alarm signal where connected (the alarm system itself stays with your alarm contractor)

CCTV (Hikvision and other PoE systems)

  • Clean domes and lenses; check housings, brackets and cable glands
  • Compare camera views with the original field of view, then re-aim and refocus where needed
  • Check recorder health: drive status, recording retention and date/time sync
  • Test PoE switch ports and power budget, and replace failing patch leads
  • Review day and night image quality, including IR and low-light performance
  • Check remote access, user accounts and firmware status, applying updates with your agreement

Structured data cabling

  • Re-test copper links and compare against the original certification results where available
  • Inspect patch panels, outlets, cabinets and labelling
  • Trace faults; repair or re-terminate damaged runs; replace faulty outlets and patch leads
  • Tidy and re-dress the patch field, then update labels and as-built records

Fibre optic links

  • Inspect and clean connectors; test loss with a power meter or OTDR
  • Check ODFs, splice trays, pigtails and patch leads, and replace damaged parts
  • Re-splice and repair after cable damage, then compare results with the original test records

Starlink

  • Check the dish for obstructions, alignment, mount fixings and weatherproofing
  • Inspect connectors and cable runs for UV or mechanical damage
  • Check router and network integration, the power supply and any failover setup

Audio visual

  • Test displays, projectors, speakers, microphones and conferencing signal paths
  • Check wall brackets and fixings; replace worn leads, connectors and wall plates
  • Fault-trace signal, audio and control problems

Control rooms and comms rooms

  • Inspect racks, cabinets, patch fields and containment
  • Check UPS batteries and runtime, and PDU loads
  • Check ventilation and airflow, dust and filters
  • Check video wall, monitor and KVM health, and update rack and port documentation

How a servicing agreement works

  • Survey: we inspect the site and list every device, door, camera and cabinet in scope
  • Plan: we agree the visit frequency, scope and price in writing
  • Visits: each visit follows a checklist for that system, and a service report is supplied afterwards
  • Repairs: faults and worn parts found are quoted before any work goes ahead
  • Review: we adjust the plan if your site, risk or systems change

FAQs

What's the difference between servicing and maintenance?

Servicing is the scheduled visit: we inspect, test, clean, adjust and report on the system. Maintenance is the ongoing care around it: fault-finding, repairs and replacement parts between visits. You can book a one-off service, a planned programme of visits, or both together.

Do you service systems that someone else installed?

Yes. We survey the installation first so you know its condition before you commit to anything. A few proprietary platforms need manufacturer software, licences or credentials; if that applies to your system we will say so at the survey stage.

Which systems and brands do you service?

Access control (Lenel, Paxton, Came BPT and most other platforms), PoE CCTV (Hikvision and other leading brands), structured copper cabling (Excel and others), fibre optic links, Starlink, audio visual systems, and security control rooms and comms rooms.

How often should access control and CCTV be serviced?

It depends on how heavily the doors are used, how exposed the cameras are and how critical the site is. Many sites choose quarterly or six-monthly visits for busy doors and outdoor cameras, with an annual visit as a sensible minimum. We recommend a frequency after the survey and follow the manufacturer's guidance for each product.

How much does servicing and maintenance cost?

It is priced on enquiry after a survey, because the cost depends on the number of doors, cameras, cabinets and outlets, the visit frequency and the location. Repairs and parts found during a visit are quoted before any work goes ahead.

What if something breaks between planned visits?

In London you can book a Priority Callout with a guaranteed 4-hour response: £300 on weekdays or £415 at weekends, then £60 per hour, excluding materials. Planned servicing and repairs outside London are covered up to Manchester, so contact us and we will confirm the next available visit.
